Besides sustainable aviation fuel, experts say another way to make the aviation industry greener is to improve jet engine efficiency. Pilot Christopher Trahan, 71, has completed 98 volunteer missions for Pilots for Patients, a nonprofit based in Louisiana that provides free transportation for people in need of medical treatment. Trahan says volunteering is "one of the most rewarding things I have ever done" and urges other pilots to consider joining the organization.
