Signature Aviation has expanded its chain of fixed base operators with the acquisition of 14 TAC Air sites, all of which will be rebranded to Signature by the end of 2022. Signature will now offer services in 227 locations spanning 27 countries, with new US locations to include Buffalo, N.Y., Knoxville, Tenn., and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Aviation Update

The Cleveland Soaring Society, located at Geauga County Airport in Middlefield, Ohio, was created 60 years ago for glider pilots and has grown to 300 members. Flying a glider requires aviators to read the atmosphere, and the skills it builds can help club members in their pursuit to earn other pilot certifications, says President Bryce Kujat.

Airport Focus

England's Farnborough Airport is price matching standard and sustainable aviation fuel in advance of the Farnborough International Airshow, which begins on July 18, as part of the facility's plan to reach net-zero emissions by 2030. NASA plans to select one or more industry partners for the Sustainable Flight Demonstrator project, an effort to "reduce carbon emissions from aviation and ensure US competitiveness" in sustainable commercial aircraft design. Pilot Spotlight

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Michael Newgard pulled off a harrowing rescue of an injured climber on Mount Hood, balancing his Oregon Army National Guard Blackhawk helicopter near the top of the 11,249-foot mountain. Newgard credits the aviation training he received from the Army and the help of two medics for the success of the mission.
