Cirrus Aircraft’s SR22 and SR22T models manufactured between June 1, 2021, and Feb. 7, 2023, have been grounded, with the company saying in an email to owners and operators that Continental Aerospace informed them about a potential issue affecting the aircrafts’ engines. The email also noted that "Continental is pro-actively working with the [Federal Aviation Administration] as a standard protocol for a situation of this nature."

Aviation Update

The Textron King Air 260 will replace the Beechcraft King Air 90 US Navy pilot training fleet. The Navy has ordered 10 King Airs, designated T-54s for the service, under a $113 million contract, with options in place for up to 64.

Astronaut Jan Davis recently urged attendees of the Girls Engage in Math and Science expo in Alabama to explore STEM careers because flying and learning were part of "the best job ever." The expo, which drew more than 350 students, offered hands-on STEM activities to promote STEM fields to girls, says Dilhani Uswatte, program organizer and principal of an elementary school.
