A number of milestones and festivities took place during EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis., including an event marking the 25th anniversary of the Airport Support Network in which the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association honored volunteers, a celebration of the 50-year history of the Seaplane Pilots Association and a picnic to commemorate the founding of Piper Aircraft 85 years ago.

New Braunfels National Airport in Texas plans to construct an updated air traffic control tower that is in adherence with Federal Aviation Administration regulations and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Trooper First Class Haley Jo Lucas has been named the first female pilot in the Georgia State Patrol’s aviation division, which is comprised of 14 pilots and a fleet of 12 helicopters that take on fire suppression, search and rescue and other aerial missions. "We hope Trooper Lucas’ accomplishment inspires other young women to pursue their dreams," said Col. Christopher Wright, commissioner of the state’s Department of Public Safety.
