EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2022 a record-breaking show

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2022 is over, and as the last prop wash wafts across the matted acres of now-empty grass parking spaces at Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH) in Wisconsin, early figures show that 650,000 visitors descended upon the Experimental Aircraft Association grounds during the week of July 25-31.

After years of neglect, volunteers from the Recreational Aviation Foundation and the Oregon Pilots Association volunteered to handle maintenance at the Silver Creek Airstrip, saving it from closure.

Garmin autopilot approved for more airplanes, virtual training course launches

Garmin has received FAA Supplemental Type Certification (STC) for the GFC 500 autopilot in additional aircraft, including Cessna 172D/P172D models and Commander 112B, 112TC/TC-A, and 114 models.

Pilot mistakes corn field for runway

The pilot’s misidentification of a corn field for the destination airport’s runway, and a subsequent aerodynamic stall at low altitude while attempting to land.
